Yess! Finally, I hit six. It took a few months to years for me to understand how to turn ChatGPT into my creative supporter or turn it into one of its. I fed it an infinite number of prompts and Act 3 frameworks in the book. But eventually, I won.
When OpenAI launched ChatGPT, writers became curious enough to test the tool’s limitations. Could it help me with scripts? How can we explain thermodynamics to a 7-year-old kid?
But then why Claude?
If you are a writer, you would definitely know the silence that comes when we get stuck with words, turning into writer’s block. So, I needed a partner who could understand the speeches and the silence. That’s when I turned to Claude 3.7 with my entire workflow.
Let’s make it clear by understanding the difference between Claude and ChatGPT.
What’s the Difference Between Claude and ChatGPT?
Even though both ChatGPT and Claude are powered by similar capabilities, like LLMs and LMMs, someone who uses them daily can easily see the difference between the tools.
ChatGPT:
ChatGPT is the best tool for users who want an all-in-one AI toolkit. From image generation to a custom GPT marketplace, it is an ideal tool for users who want to explore every side of AI.
Claude:
Claude is mostly for users who are more focused on sophisticated text and code. With its natural writing style and strong coding capabilities, along with the real-time visualization through Artifacts, it is the reason why many consider it a great choice for developers, writers, and analysts who need more depth in their topic.
Now, let me walk you through why I’m ditching ChatGPT for Claude for a better writing workflow.
No More AI-isms in my Content
There’s no debate that ChatGPT is a brilliant logic machine. However, based on my experience using ChatGPT, I feel it explicitly says the content is AI due to its over-explaining behaviour. Sometimes the content seems to be overdramatic, which draws too much attention to the writing style.
That’s where Claude 3.7 differs from ChatGPT. I don’t have to give a prompt “to be less robotic” or “human-like content”. Anthropic has trained the tool well on a curated set of literary data. It gives sentences and paragraphs more human. It naturally gives content that’s grounded, with a professional prose style that boosts the reader’s imagination. That’s what changed my mind.
Silence Factor
While writing a story or script, especially when it comes to thrillers or emotional drama, what is more exciting is the thing that the character holds and never says. The unsaid emotions will always be the best part of the story.
ChatGPT often makes the character convey their feelings. If a character is angry, ChatGPT says, “He felt a burning rage in his chest.”
However, Claude cracks the unsaid. Thanks to its adaptive thinking. Claude automatically identifies the characters’ dynamics when I’m writing a high-tension scene. When two people are fighting over being late, Claude can understand that it’s not the time. It might be the person they went with who is the reason.
Extended thinking is one of the biggest breakthroughs. ChatGPT always seems to be in a rush to give us answers faster, but Claude’s reasoning proved that it thinks before it says.
So, I switched to Claude because it can understand the silence and how to bring it into the content better than ChatGPT.
Context Window
As I aim to be a film writer, my word count would be endless. So, the problem is that after some time, ChatGPT’s memory depletes. It forgets that your antagonist is deaf and was brought up in Mumbai.
Claude solves this on two fronts. First, its massive 1-million-token context window allows it to process roughly 750,000 words, which is equal to multiple feature screenplays or three complete novels. Secondly, with persistent cross-chat memory, Claude retains your style, character bibles, and ongoing plot rules across totally different conversations. Now, no more re-explaining your story’s core and foundation every time you open the chat window.
What are the Limitations of Claude AI?
An Image Barrier
Unlike ChatGPT, Claude is unable to generate images. If you are a storyteller who needs to visualize your character or scene setup, Claude will stop you there. However, it helps to embrace a hybrid workflow. You can use ChatGPT or Midjourney for your virtual art department to build visual mood boards, and bring those visual details over to Claude to craft the deep narrative prose.
Trap of Pricing
As I said before, Claude has a massive memory. Once you end up in long chats, the API costs rise.
Over-cautious Filter
Since Claude is built on constitutional AI, it is a bit polite. If you’re writing a gritty story with intense conflict, you have to push the tool to a certain extent.

If running out of messages is your problem, then let’s keep a separate draft document for the whole script. Paste only the specific scene or scene outline you’re currently rewriting into Claude. For general scene drafting, rely on daily models like Sonnet, and save heavier reasoning prompts for Opus when you need to solve complex plot holes.
